The Racing

The Antigua Racing Cup - for racing purists: high-energy, coastal racing with a fast-paced schedule and a focus on spirited competition.

The Antigua Racing Cup is an event for racing purists—high-energy, coastal racing with a fast-paced schedule and a focus on spirited competition. The event will feature 4 days of exhilarating races in conditions envied by most – balmy temperatures, trade winds, big seas at very short distances from shore. Strategically placed in the calendar to allow teams to compete and then head off to their summer events, racers can expect finely tuned variations of the exhilarating courses they would usually associate with sailing conditions along Antigua’s spectacular southern coast, and spectators will still enjoy the breathtaking views from land, sea, or air.

Racing will take place off the south-east coast of Antigua. Longer courses for racing multihulls and maxi’s with options for dual-scoring CSA/IRC in monohull racing classes.  One design racing will take place in Falmouth Harbour and environs weather permitting, on RS Elites and Petticrow Dragons. The racing will suit performance-driven crews.

The objective is to have every boat racing for approximately three to four hours on each day. If there are two or more races in a day, it is anticipated that the total racing time will not exceed four hours.

Boats from around the world will descend on English Harbour for the event. If you aren’t planning on bringing your own boat but are interested in chartering, check out the options here. The boats vary from 26 foot RS Elites through to 70 foot full race ready VOR’s. Most will have owners representatives on board, some will charter to individuals or groups of individuals and some are sailing schools who ensure training days prior to the start of the event will ensure all the crew are ready to go for race day!
